FIGHT YOUR FEAR

Once there were two twin brothers named Joe and John who lived with their father. In their backyard there was a banyan tree which they loved dearly and spent a lot oftime under there.

  One morning when Joe opened the curtains of their room he was astonished to see that the tree had no leaves. It had suddenly become dull, as if it had died. 

  Their father decided to chop down the tree and sell its wood. The children tried to convince their father not to do so but he had already made up his mind.

  “Dad is going to chop down our tree,” said Joe gloomily as he and his brother made their way to their beloved tree.

  “I am wondering how a tree can die in a night,” wondered John aloud.

  As they were about to reach their favorite banyan tree John continued “I was also thinking…..”. 

  Even before Joe could complete his sentence, they had reached the tree and, puzzlingly, both of them swiftly vanished into thin air.

  Soon thereafter, they found themselves in a massive room which seemed to be an assembly hall but wherever one’s eyes could go they could only see pitch black clouds and not even a sign of walls, desks or anything. “CREEPY,” said both of them. They found themselves standing on a tiny circular platform. The creepiest of so many creepy things was the only source of light which was coming from within their own bodies. Both of them gulped and said “MORE CREEPY.”

  “Where are we?” asked John hoping Joe would have an answer. Within the blink of an eye, many huge grey colored clouds gathered from nowhere and then they all went the opposite way revealing a grey colored massive face in the air, without any body.

  “MOST CREEPY,” shouted both of them at the same time.

   The large grey colored face spoke. “Ha, ha, ha. I am Fear and you both are in my world, ‘Fear World’ inside your tree. Now you are my new prisoners.” Fear paused and stared at their bodies which was still glowing but had started blinking. He continued, “Ha. Ha, ha. Merely by seeing me, your faith levels have started decreasing. You two aren’t going to be a tough one. Ha, ha, ha.”

  “Bye” said Fear in his rough voice and again started his evil laughter.

  Before any of them could argue, Fear said again, “Bring in the FEAR HOLE,” no need to mention that he again began to laugh. On these words, a black colored hole popped out of the clouds and swiftly raced through the twins and took both of them in it.

  In a flash, they saw themselves in school uniform sitting on their desk in their classroom. The room was filled with papers everywhere and in every paper it was written in big and bold letters ‘F’. Joe chuckled and said, “F FOR FANTASTIC; that I am.”

  Their teacher came in front of them and in rage and cried “F for FAIL, since you both have failed your exam.”

  The scene suddenly changed and they found themselves in front of their father. He looked annoyed and angrier than their teacher. With rage in every words he shouted “How could you fail? No outdoor playing for two months, no outings for three months and no television for a year.”

  Now they found themselves in front of Fear again. They were sweating. The golden light coming from within them had started to flash even slower and it felt like it was on the verge of fading.

  “Ha, Ha, Ha. It is so much fun seeing somebody so terrified after so many years. A five-minute break. I must gather myself for the next performance,” said Fear who was laughing madly.

  “Quick, what’s the plan for beating this demon? You’ll make the plan because you got an A in logical reasoning,” spoke Joe.

  “But you too got an A in logical reasoning,” argued John in his defense.

  “Quick” said Joe as fast as he could.

   An idea struck Jack’s mind. He said “I know it. I know it. To finish him we need to beat him in his own game,” said Jack seeing Joe scratching his head.  But soon Joe also understood and their bodies again began to glow. Seeing this fear understood that he might be in trouble. “Break cut short. Back to the performance,” said Fear and the twins were astonished since he didn’t laugh and was frowning instead. 

  This time they found themselves in a cave full of snakes. This was one of their worst fears. “Hissssss, hissssss, hissssss” the snakes’ voice echoed in the cave. Both of them bravely started shouting together- 

“We are not scared of you” 

  In no time, they found themselves again in front of the teacher in the classroom. But the twins continued crying out their slogan due to which the scene changed again and again. The scenes were changing so fast that they couldn’t even make out where they were. Within a few minutes they found themselves again in front of Fear. They both shouted,

“We are not scared of you”

  Fear weakly said, “No, no, no no.... how” Fear was interrupted by a massive explosion and everything went white for a few seconds.

  Jack and Joe found themselves standing in their backyard in front of their tree. “What if this is also another of Fear’s trick. We must verify that we are in the real world,” asked Joe. “Look in front of your eyes. This proves it” said Jack with a broad grin. The tree was filled with leaves. The tree looked alive again. Their happiness seemed no limits. 

  Jack’s plan was a success. He analyzed that they had to make Fear’s worst fear come true. He knew it that if there is anything Fear could fear it would be that people stop being afraid of him. They proved that they were not scared and that resulted in the defeat of Fear.

  Joe and John heard some voice. When then turned back they were astonished to see that the tree suddenly got a face. 

  He spoke, “Do not get scared. I am not Fear. I am the Guardian of Faith. We both are enemies. I belong to a magical realm. Whereas Fear was trapped in a magical prison realm. His prison walls will only crack if there is nothing but chaos on Earth. That’s why Fear wants the whole world to be filled with chaos and fear. I protect the world from him and his chaos bringing plans.”

  He continued, “Somehow Fear managed to send a part of himself on Earth to lead his army and spread fear around. Since then, we have been constantly at war. During one massive fight above your city, Fear succeeded in trapped me in the trunk of this tree and I caught him in the roots of this tree. We were in deep sleep until today when I woke up. I never suspected what had happened. Even Fear had woken up.”

  “You’ll be glad to know we finished Fear?” said John.

  “You haven’t. He is very powerful and as I told you, he is currently caught in the magical prison realm. He’ll do anything to take his revenge and break the walls of the prison even if he has to sacrifice the whole Earth,” replied the Guardian of Faith.

  “But you are caught in this tree. So, how will you protect the world from him,” asked Jack.

  “I do not need to do anything. I do not need to get out. Fortunately, the world still has brave people like both of you who will conquer the fears that come in their way with the faith in their heart,” answered the Guardian of Faith.
